Curses are only curses because we label them curses. what is the difference between s**t in the literal sense and faeces? Nothing, that's what, yet if a kid says s**t thay get a tongue lashing, whereas in they say faeces, they are praised for their vocabulary skills. suppose we decided that s**t was acceptable and faeces wasn't? The it would be perfectly acceptable to say "I'm going for a sh1t" but everyone would be shocked and appaled if a kid said "Oh, f****s!" IMHO, there is really no such thing as a curse, only certain words on which there are taboos.

I beleive it was Billy Conolly who said that "there's no such thing as bad language, only good language used badly". despite his shipyard background, he manages to be really unoffensive
