TRiG (Ireland) A dog, so bade in office

I leaned about this gender-bending bird on TV Tropes yesterday. The females have the bright plumage and fight for nesting grounds. The males incubate the eggs.

Other bird species in which the female is bigger and/or more brightly coloured than the male:

Painted Snipes, the Rostratulidae family;

Jacanas, the Jacanidae family;

Buttonquails, the Turnicidae family;

The Plains Wanderer, Pedionomus torquatus.

The females of many bird-of-prey species are larger than the males.

There might be some more but I can't think of them now!
