Does anyone accept the Editors' T-shirt Challenge to write an Entry on Poland?

In the spirit of "Making someone else do it" I'll provisionally agree to have a go at this, after I've been pipped to the post on the Daphne Du Maurier entry.

Is that 'provisionally' as in you accept the challenge?! We need to know so we can stop promoting it as a challenge, that's all.

'Spose so. Any suggestions what you want for the entry though?
EG, 'Old history', during the wars, occupation by the forces of Germany then the Soviets? Where the gas chambers are / were located? Local heroes (Lechs Vawensa etc (with correct spelling of course)), current social / economic trends / pretty bits with hills and trees and stuff or other tourist attractions? Current political alliances / trends etc?
Or maybe, a brief overview of the above with the option to encouraging others to delve into specific subjects in greater depth?

Thanks!
As for the scope - Guide Entries vary, but do see how you get on. An overview is fine, but a definitive one would be fab - we can always split it up into separate sections if necessary.
Key: Complain about this post
