You were unbelieveably brave.
Both of you, all of your family.
My first baby was stillborn, I wish the hospital had thought to offer me an inkpad.
As it was, I never saw him, I have nothing of him.
He was never registered, he never existed officially.
What you went through was so much worse.
I've had healthy children since, but I've never forgotten my son in Heaven, and I know you haven't forgotten Alexander either.
Have a from someone who knows how it feels.
With love, Annie aka GB

I read about your experiences. Things have changed. My mother lost twins at 28 weeks, and wasn't even able to hold them (or possibly even see them - I can't remember). One lived for 6 hours, the other for 26 hours.
Thankfully, she and my father were able to bury them (and Alexander is now in the same plot) but they have nothing else - no pictures, mementos, or anything. We were far luckier than they or you were. It's difficult to believe that it was thought better for the parents not to see their babies after they had died.

My husband was given the choice, he declined, but he decided not to discuss it with me.
He never would talk about it.
I never talked about it with anyone, except my other children when they were old enough.
I've found a lot of therapy since I joined h2g2, as it's been easier baring my soul and pouring out my feelings to relative strangers - most of you know stuff about me that some of my RL friends don't know.
People who are able to express themselves through a site like this will be able to help all those in the future who would otherwise suffer in silence like I did.
My mother also had a son who lived two days.
They had him christened, which I am sure does help...I often wonder about my older brother.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
