The Incredible Hulk! A review and defense!

Ok, right, I went to see this movie that a lot of people have apprently slagged off. Dont listen to them, if you liked Iron Man and you are rooting for a decent Avengers movie, See This Film! I didnt know about the bad reviews till after I'd seen it, I just knew Stark was in it, Tim Roth was in it and was interested to see how laid back Edward Norton was going to do the big green mean machine thing convincingly.
So, before I start, the CGI was a tad ropey at one or two points, when applied partially to the actors... So mid-way changes etc were a bit out of proportion or the colours were off, but the important bits were there. Enough people moan when they get all pretty with no story, now you have story with a bit less pretty and it's a problem? Why?
That, and one tiny plot point that was a little contrived (what you gonna do? It's a damned COMIC!), are all I have to complain about. Apart from that, my mate reckons it's got Stan Lee's best cameo ever, the first few minutes are pure backstory but VERY nicely done (I have to get it on DVD and see how many references and names were chucked in there as clues for what's to come!). Summing up how we get to the start of the film very nicely, sketching it all out quickly and efficiently without going into detail that we dont need, or dont need yet. I would have been satisfied with that, and was praying for the rest of the film that they wouldn't let me/us down and ruin it after a fantastic start.
They didnt.
I enjoyed the action sequence that leaves you hanging, because actually, you are running and jumping and fighting and shooting with them, but nothing *actually* happens...
I enjoyed the Super Smackdowns... In busy city streets, natch. But it's ok, it's not meant to be original, just GOOD!
And the end is beautiful... I wont spoil it by giving out spoilers, but it's a nice leading ending. Nothing jars, nothing is out of place... Gorgeous!
It has pretty much all you want in a superhero film, the love story was intrinsic not irritating like in Tranformers, and I found it less flawed than Iron Man and Iron Man I bloody loved.
Bring on the other Marvel Studio films and fingers crossed they all work this well. Ignore the crtics and go see this film with a song in your heart. A song that sounds like a superhero's theme tune would be a good start
Oh, and before you start, the last film was not a patch on this and should be forgotten about. Just let it go, that's it. Deep breath in... And out... Now go buy a ticket for this film.
