BBC Regional Boards Closed Today

The BBC Regional Boards - officially called Where I Live - closed today.
I understand the BBC doesn't have infinite resources and that they have to use the licence fee wisely etc., but I think they should have set up some kind of general discussion board so that the many contributors to these local forums could have continued to debate regional issues.
The majority of posters to these boards were very disappointed to find their online community breaking up and being dispersed, some new independent boards have been set up, but it's difficult to achieve the same kind of unique atmosphere away from the BBC. The closure follows the recent policy of the BBC to use Host led discussions and discontinue open ended conversations.
I have been using the local boards for over 5 years and though they had declined since the introduction of the new DNA format two years ago, they continued to be a place where I and many others visited daily.
Oh well - that's how the cookie crumbles or something like that.

Sorry about that. I didn't use it myself but it is sad to lose something you are fond of.
