Your poem is questioning, reflective and soul searching. It is a hard choice in life when people have been together most of their lives and have homes and shared lives in some respects and yet emotionally they are distanced. The answer: not for me to say but I know of couples who have stayed together because of inertia.

Thank you. I think the crunch can come when the children leave home and you ask yourself "What next"?

Well it is an age old adage: something always happens next, but what? In this particular case the protaganists have a choice, adopt the inertia approach or cut your emotional losses and split. Inertia is far easier and I would say less painful for it takes a brave heart to break what is known to a life that is unbeknown.

I very rarely give advice because in my opinion people hardly ever take it and usually make their own life decisions
