Very good! Little idea; you could start marketing 'SNAFFLE BINS!' Little washing baskets with a trap-door at the base to catch unwary snaffles.
Just a thought. 
N.B. read 'The Hogfather' by Terry Pratchett. He's got an eater of socks as well, although his has more legs and has hoover-like nose for sucking up socks!
