...Not that I have poo on the brain, well maybe I do, but how this little potty-back-beetle actually manages to heap excrement on its own back beggars the imagination.
There's a picture of a lilycidal dung-heap at the bottom of this link: http://www.umassgreeninfo.org/fact_sheets/defoliators/lily_leaf_beetle.html
Tis a think to marvel at.
Now I'm really waiting for some gardeners to show up and please explain

oh my - my parents had this beetle - the Gruesomes thought they were cute & wouldn't let me squish 'em (so I did it after they had gone to bed)
Should have checked the leaves though. Although my parents are keen gardeners - I expect they have.

Why is everyone waiting for a gardener to turn up? I AM a gardener!
I've had first hand experience of the beetle and its larvae. The beetle is a sweet little bug The larvae are gross
They look like a moving bird droppings, with lags at the front

I know you are, and nobody doubted your qualification - but all of us non-gardeners might miss to ask the right questions,to really include everything possible, all we can do is maybe point out typos and wrong guide ml, but not give you the comments your entry deserves.

Tnaks B'el
I hope i've included everything possible that i can find out about this little bug. Theres been relatively little information about it in the past. Now its becomng more common, more is coming to light about it.
I still can't bring myself to kill them, even though they chomp through my lilies I just put them in the bin.

You're too nice, Venus. (and what I meant about waiting for gardeners is what B'Elana explained)
You should squish 'em
It's very satisfying

I think all the gardeners must be on holiday
Aaawww...but they are so cute, i could never do it. I don't really kill any garden pests, which might explain a few plants looking a little ragged
Next year, i will be armed with a garlic barrier spray, hopefull that will keep 'em off my lilies

well, I heard that your garden is lovely (with added orchids) without killing pests, so obviously you know what you're doing

In the article pailawyay linked to earlier, they say you can have very good results with Neem

(chimes in with earlier posts)
yes, I only meant other gardeners too - you know, for peer review - what could I add after all, I'm easily confused by poo. ()
(btw, I might have some trouble squashing the adult beetle too if it squeaks as you say)

Nice entry
Yup, the sub who brushes it up for the front page will add some suitable links to other entries. I'm glad they do this as it does help the site flow well and I've read and learned something from quite a few 'linked to' entries I may not have seen otherwise.
If there are any links you especially want added you can do it yourself by typing word in text or leave a list of the entry number(s) here for the sub.

Dangabbit, you're right - I'm sorry, I didn't see it.
If you can't edit it now, you could leave it to the sub
