To spice it up, you may want to add some personal experiences and insights gleaned from your visit(s) and the experiences of those you know. You also might want to comment on Mexico's place in the world, ie. how it is seen internationally. Finally, you may want to add some cultural notes such as major holidays, social practices, families, attitudes about women, social issues, ect. You've chosen a very wide topic, so you don't need to go into depth about everything, but do try to make the article engaging.
