There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Sep 14, 2003
Ok I'm real busy over the next two days but I'll get back for a thorough read on Tuesday. In the meantime I'm sure that a few other Scouts and PR regulars will have been making suggestions to help you with this entry

This is looking really good now. The first paragraph now sets out the Dynasty's place in Chinese history.
The entry says nothing about how we know what we know about it and it would be useful to have something about historical evidence or everything that you have stated in the entry.

I added a bit to the first paragraph........ is that any better?

Interesting...
I'd say this still needs quite a bit of work - it's a bit wordy in places. But the potential is defintely there
I'll be back with a more detailed look a bit later.

OK then. I'm not meaning to be picky or anything here, it's just, well, I did pick up a thing or two about the history while I was out East...
Writing - (I'm 10% literate in Chinese, dontcha know. It's so useful back here ). I thought these definitions might be helpful:
Pictogram - character representing a picturable object.
Ideogram - character (usually made up of pictograms) represemting an abstract concept.
Could you use the word 'character' rather than 'symbol'? And were they first written with just vertical strokes
Jobs -
the invention of farming -> improved farming methods (due to the invention of irrigation)
Agriculture - rice was (and is) grown in the *south* of China, where it's hot and sticky, with millet and wheat in the dry north.
Metal - perhaps the scarcity of metal was the reason why the commoners weren't allowed any weapons?
Education - I believe literacy has been incredibly rare throughout Chinese history (partly for practical reasons).
Generally I reckon there's still a fair bit of editing to be done here. Keep at it

Sorry it took me so long to respond, there was a hurricane and we lost power. How does it look now? The one thing is that I never said that there was a high literacy rate so i'm not sure what you were talking about there.......

Well that seems a pretty good excuse to me I do hope that you and your family are .
I happen to think that this has improved dramactically whilst it is in PR and is pretty near finished.
What do the rest of you think?

When people stop commenting it ususally means that they there isn't much you can do to improve it. I'm sure it will be picked soon enough

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
