It's very unlikely that voting will result in the election of any government that can 'end' my life in any real sense.

Being in the military is a little different. Granted it took monumental military buffoonery to reach a situation like the Somme, and monumental political arrogance to end up in a situation like Iraq, but in both cases the armed forces are in considerably more danger than the average member of the public.

Well, despite hilarious attempts by Fox to 'prove' that California is more dangerous than Iraq for American citizens, we both know that's a crock of sh*t.

I'm afraid it's a fact of life that members of the Armed Forces are directly put in the line of fire as a deliberate policy by governments.

Which is of course exactly the point Micael Moore was trying to make with 'Will they ever trust us again?' before the right started shouting 'traitor' at him and accusing him of undermining the war effort and all that other good stuff the right do.
