Seperating the Home Office is not a good idea; it would diminish one of the 3 great offices of state. Whilst the current incumbent has brought his man-management style into play, "unfit for purpose," in an attempt to be seen as a potential leader, splitting up the turf so he can grab a couple of quick wins is not the answer.

It's been the answer for years, long before this crisis. The very nature of the Home Office has meant it is far too unwieldy to be a single functioning entity.

Morning Blues,
With your personal expertise in the field of government I am prepared to accept your view that a split is the coreect thing. But I am concerned that if sections of the current H O do not talk to each other about matters which effect more than one of its responsibilities, how can we assume that two separate organisations, with overlapping areas of interest , WILL talk to each other?

Well, part of the problem is that various bits of it werehn't communicating properly with other bits anyway, so he can hardly make the problem any worse...

I've just found out that possibly the reason they weren't communicating is that they all have seperate networks - often into the same building.
3 different suppliers you see - 'til now.
