But - if you took all the people in Darfur and said 'OK - we will forcibly evict all the inhabitants of Minnesota - and you can go and live there' what would the reaction be? Might the locals not object? Would the surrounding states welcome the new inhabitants? Would the rest of America arm the new Darfurian state with the most sophisticated weapons in the world? I think not

Minnesota? Madagascar was mentioned in 1938!
But I do think Israel could put its nuclear weapons arsenal out of the way as a sign of goodwill.

Who owns the nuclear industry - both scientifically, mentally and financially?

Therefore the need for a reality check. The Bush-Blair axis ain't going to invade Israel looking for Weapons of Mass Destruction. So the only option is that these weapons are put beyond use, ostensibly as a sign of goodwill, otherwise it's short odds on an Armageddon scenario in a few short years it seems to me.

Wrong – the entire invasion of Iraq was an excuse to invade Afghanistan and build a pipeline from central (formally) Russia to the Indian Ocean. Guess who were the contractors – Harry Burton.
Why?
All Americas oil – other than Venezuela (which has been limited), has to travel through the straits of Hormus, the red sea, the Suez Canal the straits of Gibralta.
Why is Harry Burton looking for offshore oil off West Africa?
Chick Deany shoots lawyers, gets away with it and gets $1m a year from Harry Burton.
Who actually controls Harry Burton?

Waddyamean Wrong? I never mentioned Iraq, Afghanistan or even Harry Burton whose shares were up 25% last I heard.

Who controls the SW Syria Golan heights these days? That's where the water is isn't it?

Exactly - but when I mentioned that I was accused of being vague.

I don't think there's any question that historical motives are going to play a part. I would've said the most important matter in dealing with Palestein and Israel is to make sure that people have somewhere to live, food, water, and jobs (probably reliant on natural resources?). I'm sure a hell of a lot of the people there, maybe most, care only for Jerusalem though.

I think that historical evictions that have happened to people who are still alive need to be counted pretty heavily too.

I'm sort of inclined to believe that the single state solution might really have been the best one. Palestinians and Israelis are roughly equal in numbers so neither group could be pushed around too much in a democracy.

But if the US says that an elected government is not acceptable, how would it work if they won an overall Lebastinian election?

Llareggub is from Dylan Thomas's play for voices Under Milk Wood. You have to read it backwards. It's based on his stay in Newport (Wales) to a large extent although there are elements of Laugharne in it of course. Richard Burton made a fantastic recording for the BBC as you can imagine.

If I may go back to post 262.
Some Japanese, and they should know, want to rid the world of nuclear weapons. Commendable! It was just on the box. So where better to start than post 262.
Why not go for it! Start the go for it Israel. Nobody is going to nuke you. You don't need the darned things. QED. Grasp the nettle. Dust off the old road map. Throw nuclear caution to the winds. It'll be good for business.

SWL,
No I'm not kidding. That link of yours flags up the danger.

You'll remember, and your link proves it, but many will have already erased it from memory (it won't even make even the Guardian's retrospective on 2007 I bet you) all that fuss between Japan and China earlier in the year about Japanese history books. The Chinese wound up their proletariat with 'news' that Japanese history books in schools were doctored to exclude the Nanking Massacre. In 2 weeks the whole Chinese nation had been wound up into a frenzy.

It's that easy to manipulate the population. Germany proved that.
Now imagine if they had had the nuclear weapon in 1938/45. They already had selected the targets: 1st Gibraltar, 2nd London.

No, I'm deadly serious SWL.
