Good advice timelysmiley - ok

Helps to run cool water over your pulse points. Your wrists are easily done.

It is a more drastic measure but keeping your head and feet wet can cool you.

Good idea about the pulse points. I wrote an expanded version of this article which is now in Peer Review - I should add this additional bit of advice.

It's gotten a lot hotter here since I wrote the article, so I assume Mother Nature is moving the heat back where it belongs. What a time for a massive power-failure, huh? smiley - erm

Hi!

I carry a spray mist bottle and give myself a spritz now & then. That feels real good and the water in the bottle can last all day!

During the "Big Blackout of 2003", I could not have done without it!

Hey, Barb!

I was thinking about you and your birdies when the power went out - that must have been frightening at first. We were lucky here; the outages were well north of us.

I've spent the last several days reassembling my Y2K survival kit. I worry about terrorists hitting the grid in the dead of winter... smiley - sadface

Hi Quizzical!

Same here. I am now stocking up on water, just in case. Flashlights with fresh batteries, canned goods and non-perishables. You never know...blackout....terrorism...we should be prepared for anything.

smiley - sadfaceI lost my little yellow parakeet "Pretty". She was a real sweetheart, but I think there was some genetic thing wrong with her. She was very very tiny and got tired real fast...

On the bright side, the rest of my guys are fine. I just took in a beautiful 4 1/2 month old African Grey..."Poppy"smiley - love

Well, hang in there!

smiley - sadface Sad news about Pretty...

African Greys are wonderful birds - very intelligent and excellent talkers. Lucky you!

My younger cockatiel has fallen in love with my coffee mugs. He serenades them and taps on them with his beak. It's amazing what gets his attention (he also loves feet and knees).
