Harsh comment about John Hughes. I reckon "Planes, Trains & Automobiles", "Uncle Buck" and "Home Alone" (the original, not sequels) all to have been decent comedies. Admittedly FBDO was his peak and he didn't direct only write the above, but even "Dunston Checks In" has its moments ......

You're both missing the mark: John Hughes was a pivotal part of defining movies in the 1980s. Movies such as The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Some Kind Of Wonderful, and Sixteen Candles gave as much, if not more, to the decade and the industry than many of today's so-called 'geniuses'.

However, I completely agree that Home Alone 3 was a load of old toss.
