Long Walks
Warlock Cat of the Feline Mercenary Army. Started conversation Oct 15, 2003
Sorry to butt in, but just had to say how jealous I am if you like long walks, here in the good old UK our longest recognised path is about 650 miles - nothing compared to some of your trails!.
Anyway, walking it next spring. Got any cat sized walking boots?

JaneKlimt Posted Oct 15, 2003
ha . . . i usually walk barefoot. We do have some beautiful trails, etc, up here, but my lack of car, etc. leaves me few options. I generally walk in broad circles around the colleges and neighbourhoods near my house. Last friday I walked for eight hours through Suburbia.

JaneKlimt Posted Oct 15, 2003
probably can't reccomend anything hard-core enough for you. i like walking around the mountains, but really i don't hike much.
my walks are mostly on cement and grass, not asphalt.
right now it is 8:21
yes, most of poor old america has to wear shoes all the time. california, on the other hand, is fine for another month.
what about walks appeals so much to you?

The sense of freedom, being able to be yourself, the one-ness with nature, and leaving all the "society" cr*p behind you.
Also great for composing long boring books!
You got any cats? Could join the F.M.A. as first member if u want.Check out my journal.
Long Walks
JaneKlimt Posted Oct 15, 2003
yes, the freedom and the long novels are the best.
i do have a cat but . .. i . . don't . . . like . . . it.
sorry.
i like the CONCEPT of cats, but am unable to connect emotionally with them.

Warlock Cat of the Feline Mercenary Army. Posted Oct 15, 2003
Whats it called/like?
Dont worry too much that u cant connect; when I was younger my parents had 17 yes 17! at one point, but just as you cant get on with every person, u cant get on with every cat, and some of them used to scratch me to pieces!.
Where in USA R U?
(Added note to "Why?")

JaneKlimt Posted Oct 15, 2003
hmm? oh the cat is called Tuffy. stupid tuffy. It's okay, we get along . . . but it is NOT allowed in my room. Tuffy is black, white bellied, smelly.
I am in claremont, CA. Sunny place.
I do agree with your note on "Why" and added my own note. I am a bit of a snob sometimes when it comes to poetry.

Yeah, read it, and I dont have a problem with that, and added. Can I suggest we keep each thread seperate from now on, or Ill end up chasing my tail round the room!!!
Long Walks
JaneKlimt Posted Oct 15, 2003
ok! added another note.
so you're crazy about cats. i gathered that much.
are they your top obsession?
Long Walks
Warlock Cat of the Feline Mercenary Army. Posted Oct 15, 2003
Dont realy have a top obsession, guess if I had to call one it would just be "fairness for all", oh, and olives. (lol)
Love nature photography, cos at least the animals dont know if they are letting u down, but u get a bit cold or wet waiting for them to show- or not.
Love cooking, yes, I know thats odd for a bloke, but just think of all the top male chefs.
Love history-that is one thing I feel sorry about for those of u over the pond; we destroyed so much when we came that you dont have the rich archaeology that we do, other than the native indian remains. But then I guess Im jealous of those, so it must balance out!

hi . . . sorry for just leaving. Sleep, school, blah blah blah.
You write novels? Kuhl . . . like what?
Long Walks
Warlock Cat of the Feline Mercenary Army. Posted Oct 15, 2003
Hi again! purr purr
More or less anything - from trashy romantic stuff to scifi to historical. Basic rule for me is that if it sells I'll write it... IF I WANT TO: I will not be pidgeon-holed by editors or critics, nor do what my publisher wants, unless it suits me. The day I write something I dont enjoy doing is the day I compromise myself, and more or less prostitute my art.
What bout u? Literary or not? If so what genre? What bout music?
Long Walks
JaneKlimt Posted Oct 16, 2003
you write romance novels? excellent! a friend and i decided to write one a year ago and bought a bunch, but we didn't follow through with it.
literature is the only thing i can do, which is fine with me. i love writing and reading, although not so much science fiction, etc.
mostly i write poetry, which i then re-write and edit until i have pages and pages and only 3 lines of actual poetry . . . which i hope means i'm doing something right.
i read poetry and novels of the better sort, and also lots and lots of plays. Oooooooh I love Tom Stoppard, he's my favorite playwright after Shakespeare.
And you? What types of etcetera are you into?
Long Walks
Warlock Cat of the Feline Mercenary Army. Posted Oct 16, 2003
I try and keep an open mind re plays, did act a bit (badly) at school, but cant stand the pretensions of the 'lovey' set, so tend not to get involved. When I get forced into it, i tend to go for obscure works that noone has had the guts to do before (or they had more sense! lol) so I cant be compared to others.
On the whole I leave it alone, although would love to dramatize a book ( not one of mine) one day.
SF is fine, and I know a lot of people love it, but to me its a pain, as Im not very tecno- This is my Dads pc: I dont have one, and use an old battered, but much loved typewriter. Like my freedom too much to get online all the time. + Editors could get hold of me too easily: One of the reasons for hiking! - To avoid them.
Will be online till 12:00 GMT on friday, quite happy to let u have my address if u want to write.
Must check other msgs.
back in a bit
ps no I wont tell u my pen name, before you ask, but u may well have read me.

I am in high school plays now! My school has a really good Theatre/Thespians program, and almost a third of the school is involved in some way.
My class is doing Our Town right now, I'm Mrs. Gibbs. Have you read it?
How old are you, by the way?
Which obscure plays? Maybe I've actually heard of some.

God, Im ancient,(35 next month) but dont worry not a perv!!! Just have a love of literature and as a writer I need to mix with all and any. If its any comfort, Im also a Scout leader, so have had all the police checks to make sure Im insane... did I mean that?
Im a single father with two cats (not that Im there father!!), Cant do anymore than this on computers, and as u know, I dissapear for ages on long walks- my son, James then stops with his mum. He enjoys walking too, but tends to burn off too much energy too fast by running about.
Anything else u want to know?
Long Walks
JaneKlimt Posted Oct 16, 2003
Yes I do! I asked which plays you have participated in.
You asked me waaaaay earlier about my tastes in music. I love the beatles, rolling stones, violent femmes, white stripes, radiohead, simon and garfunkel, nirvana, and soundtracks to musicals like Hair and Sweeney Todd.
Now tell me what your favorite book, short story, play, and poem is (she commands).

OOOHH, stroppy femail... Dont know if I can cope with this!
Book : Dreams Of Leaving,(Rupert Thompson)... The Deptford Trillogy,(Roberson Davies)... The Vampire Lestat, (Anne Rice)... The Writers And Artists Handbook (Ed)... or the last one that made me any money!!!
It depends on the mood Im in
!
Short Story: Edgar Allan Poes are the best. Or the last one that made me a bit less poor!
(get the picture yet)
Play: Has to be either Waiting for Godot, THe Little Dragon, Or any Shakespear
Poem: Any, again it depends on the mood Im in, but check out Brian Pattern. Guess if I had to plump for one it would be T.S. Elliots The Wasteland.
How bout u?
