Master, what exactly is a jedi? I've heared the stories just like everyone else but at the moment the jedi seem just a ledgend. I hear of the immense powers of the jedi but in the time I have been here I havent seen these powers put to use. It's not the I dont believe you have power, my own experience has shown otherwise. What I'm asking is, why dont you use the power you have?

sometimes power is used when it is not needed
the natural course of things should not be perverted merely because the path may not be clear at that moment
only in a case of dire circumstance should extreme action be taken

and of course if we were to abuse our power i do not think it would make us popular yes?
men desire what they cannot or do not have, and even the most noble of persons is suseptable to envy or greed.

heh, I can relate to greed, I suppose I had best put those days behind me. I won't miss them.

indeed the past is only a memory
some things do need to be forgotten
but it is good also to remember the trials that make you stronger
perhaps what one truly needs is the ability to choose between them

How should one choose between what lessons should be used. I can remember one of the first lessons I learned in space was that only those with strength and ambition would gain profit and reputation. That the ability and willingness to kill or be killed was all important. It's a dog eat dog universe out there for spacers, thats how we live and think. I'd hate to imagine what someone with these powers would be like given those motivations. To be honest it scares me, it's half the reason I came here.

ah then control you are wanting to learn?
I know that life outwith the academy is different to that within it
there are many things that can hold you back
and many things that can make you act as you would otherwise not
life as a pirate bounty hunter may have been more... free you will find
are you sure you wish to be bound to such a strict code?

I have thought alot about this and I'm taking the right path. It's going to be hard giving up my own life but there is an old saying amongst my people.
*Makes some harsh whispering sounds then translates*

I'll leave it up to you to judge if I am ready, but I haven't come this far to back out now.

one never knows when the skills of a jedi may be needed
i suppose first we should start with the basics

*With a definite look of concentration on Kal's face the stone moves, but only slightly. It's obvious Kal didnt notice*

I can feel something when I concentrate like that but I can never seem to control it. It only becomes an issue when I sleep really but no matter how hard I try I cant will it to move.

perhaps you are trying too hard yes?
think of it not as a chore but as an extension of yourself

*concentrates again but with more patience, the stone lifts slightly*

Looks like I still need a bit of work though.

ah but without having to work at something what is the true point of having it?
many years of training it can take to become a jedi,
but if it could be achieved over night no lessons would be learned yes?

hmm I want to say something you would want to hear but to be truthful that whole years of training thing makes me blanch just a bit. I suppose I'll just have to be patient.

well our ranks are thin and there is much trouble in the galaxy at the moment,
perhaps you will get a chance to prove yourself some day

Hmm, well I'm handy with a blaster and quick with my words if the blaster wont help. All else fails I have a fast ship.
