YES! I was about to write this article myself!
Then I realised I didn't know anything about him, even what his real name was, so thanks!
The Windowlicker single has been inexplicably reminding me of the Beatles for some time, and it just occurred to me why:
It is happy to be a piece of music!
It's infused by the same joy of life as something like 'I saw her standing there', because it's music, and it's not trying to do anything else, and it's incredibly refreshing!
The only problem with him being the 3rd most important musician this century, is that if you ask most people (and I have) if they've heard of Aphex twin, they look very interested, and say "No."

Your'e moving in the wrong circles, mate. Most of the people I know have at least heard of Mr James, even if they are (for some unexplicable reason) not very keen on his music.
I went to the last night of the Warp 'We Are Ten' gigs in London last year and was sorely gutted when Richard, who was 'supposedly' DJ-ing for the last few hours, never showed his face. Apparently, this isn't an isolated case. At least Boards of Canada and SquarePusher were on form, though.
I can't think what my absolute favourite tune is, but some of my faves are 'We are the music makers', 'On' and 'Donkey Rhubard'.
