Book of the Future

The editor of a sister site to h2g2 has been in touch and, as well as imparting exciting news, has invited us all to an online party!

So, without further ado, I shall hand you over to James from Book of the Future.

Have you seen the Future? The audience to the BBCi website Book of the Future clearly think they have. They've produced the UK's first democratically edited book, written and voted for by internet users. Based on a theme of predicting what the world will be like in 2020, the articles range from the (moderately) profound to the mirth-inducing and, depending on your state-of-mind, belly laughing hilarity.

Representing over six months work, the site's authors have formed a community and are meeting for the first time to celebrate the book launch this Thursday, the 31st July, in central London. Simultaneously, those that can't make it will be meeting online on the site to chat about the book's launch. You can take part in this by signing up to the site and visiting the virtual party page here where you can talk and ask questions of the contributors.

There's also our quiz, which predicts your future by 2020. It's spookily accurate. Well sometimes. And of course the Treasure Hunt... Can you guess who the contributors are?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
