Shall we finally get Sharpe into the EG...:-)
Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 28, 2005
Sorry, I'm terrible at being able to spare time for stuff like this that I really want to do (the sun is shining and there's an unruly garden out there... as well as school, work and ... ah you know )
What I'm worried about is that the book entry (I really can't add anything of value to the TV thing, having only seem glimpses, as it were) is going to be one of those which - when it hits PR - gets a resounding collective whine of 'it's toooooo loooonggg'
Anyhoo, I don't care. I can't give time to this until after my month end thing happens at work, but then I promise to do more than stand at the sideline shouting "well done, chaps"

No worries Sho, you let us know you wouldn't be around much for a while, there's no rush.
This research is tough stuff, I've watched six episodes of Sharpe over the last few days
Some of the book reviews are a bit long, we've not touched on changing them yet, no worries, it won't be too long when it's finished.
I bought Sharpe's Christmas amd Sharpe's Skirmish while I was on holiday, must admit I'm not too impressed with Christmas, (not read any of Skirmish yet) put it down twice in discust in the first few pages, though they have some useful info in them, ie that they were published by the Sharpe Appriciation Society, that gives us an excuse to link to the web site.

I had heard that Christmas wasn't up to much, and that it was knocked out for the fan club or something.
I'll save my money then.

The bits that annoyed me where when Sharpe and Harper were unable to kill a bullock (ah poor bullock!) for the mens Chritstmas dinner, and natual born soldier Sharpe didn't want to fight, because it was Christmas, some parts of it are absolute drivel, and out of chacacter. Not finished reaing it yet, there may be some good parts in it.

Ah sorry chaps for not being around more often, I think this must be the busy period of the year for most people, as I'm busy myself at the moment, though I'm going through the complete TV series on DVD at the moment, I can comment a bit more on that if some of you guys want to focus more on the books?

As we can't repeat the same information in both Entries, (I'm hoping we can get away with the odd sentence here and there) I'm writing the TV Series from a different angle than the novels, more character based, not sure just how it's going to turn out, I think it's looking ok at the moment, though it's just the start. I'd be interested in any comments on it so far.
I'm not good at the military stuff, such as which films were based on real evens, that type of thing.

NOt sure about the films, but the books are based on real events.
Oh and the one... Rifles, I think ... based around Santiago de la (?) Compostela piqued my interest in the pilgrim's way - and then I met some people this summer who were doing a long stretch of it.
That's just an aside.
sorry.

I'm up for helping out on this what do I need to do? I own all the Sharpe books and the entire series on DV so if you need a referance just ask and I'll search for you...I can also write some stuff on the bits you've got missing.
I'm fairly new to the collabarative writing thingy so needs some pointers about what to do where to go and how to do it.

Sorry I've not been helping much, Uni stuff.
Oh, and a slight pre-moderation incident, but that's all better now...
I'll try and put 5 minutes in here and there on stuff that's missing though.
