Unc this is a great idea! Exactly what I've been needing. I will finally be able to give my userspace a touch of class! smiley - biggrin

I love it!
It really makes GuideML so much easier (for me anyway!smiley - biggrin)
It'll be excellent when it's done totally but for now I'm going to be kept very happy with experimenting with marquees etc! smiley - ok

I find it really clear and the examples are really helpful!

I'm very pleased it makes sense to you smiley - biggrin, you're the first person to try any of it out, and I was worried it wouldn't be easy enough to follow.

Marquees are great fun to play with smiley - cool, I'm writing up the guestbook section at the moment. smiley - smiley

*contemplates being the guinea pig for an experiment!*

I'll admit that some marquees are definitely harder than others but I will eventually get the hang of them! Hopefully! smiley - biggrin

Do you know if user pages can have borders all round them?

smiley - laugh

Marquees do get harder, especially if you want them to do specific things..

Only by putting the whole page inside a table... which can be done without any trouble. smiley - smiley

Post 7

Laura

I never said how to do that, did I? smiley - sorry

Just put, for example,

At the beginning, straight after the tage...

And then close with just before there tag...

Thank you from me too. The antiques on site are most grateful for the oap's guide. Will go to your school tomorrow and have a brand new front page as soon as I grasp the concept!
take care and many thanks young friend

Thanks Unc!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner!
I think I've changed my mind about a full page border though!
(not that it's not useful to know though! Been practising my Tables)
Now working on a tricky marquee. I'm trying to do a drinks fountain with smiley drinks sort of 'fountaining' (for lack of better word!) out of the center bottom of the marquee. Do you think that's possible?

I just thought it was a good idea but considering I've only done 1 marquee it's a big jump!

I may have to ask for a little bit of help! Hope that's OK! smiley - winkeye

As maquees only really go up or sideways, a fountain would be a bit tricky....

You would proably have to write 3 marquees, and put them inside a table... You could have the smileys rising up in the bottom row of the table, and the smileys going outwards in the top row if this was divided into two cells....

Quite tricky but possible smiley - smiley

I'll try a little experimenting. smiley - ok

<SMILEY TYPE="bubbly"/><SMILEY TYPE="bubbly"/><SMILEY TYPE="bubbly"/><SMILEY TYPE="bubbly"/>

you could try adding more rows of marquees to this, then I think it will give the effect you want. smiley - biggrin

Thanks Unc!

That looks great so far! I'll fiddle with it a bit myself too!
This could possibly be the idea for a perfect franchise. I'm sure someone else would have it on their space!

What do you think?

Is it possible to make the marquee move downwards again after it's moved to the top? That would look more fountainy.

Well, there's certainly plenty of smiley - bubbly available here...smiley - winkeyesmiley - laugh

You could change <smiley type="bubbly"/> for a few different drinks for a bit of variaty if you wanted. smiley - smiley Got to go offline myself so can't play anymore at the moment...smiley - sadface
