Stickers on apples!

So, apples, right? They're, like, healthy fast food, right? So why in the name of all that is holy do they have an inedible and frankly irremovable sticker on them? You wash (or rub) the thing clean, only to discover one of these vile and unnecessary objects welded to the skin - usually just as you bite into it. I know it's a Royal Gala, I don't need to be told TWICE!

I don't like them either, but as I understand it they are there so that ignorant checkout people can charge you the correct price for them. I do resent having to pay for the supermarket's failure to train their staff.
However, they peel off easy enough in my experience. If you really don't like them, buy your apples from a market stall, or direct from the grower.
