Your accounts of life in the floral hell world have me in stitches every time; well done, I am not easy to please in this respect!

I have had similiar experiences when I was suddenly put in charge of establishing a delicatessen/salad bar in Pakistan's first department store.

I had been given hand-chosen staff. Lesson one: "Let's make 12 kilos of a nice, easy salad; nothing complex like coleslaw, how about sweetcorn salad. Ok, what's the first thing we need?"

*after a suitable amount of hinting, bright spark pipes up "sweetcorn" & rises to new position as Head of Delicatessen*

--A tin of sweetcorn is produced. Next step "How do we open it?"

*blank looks*

Sinking feeling.

*Bright spark cottons on & is despatched to lift tin opener from shelves*

*Rising hopes dispelled when said opener is placed vertically on top of tin & hopeful faces wait for to begin*

Thank you so much Terri... They are very much 'faction'. Shame I didn't have the link to tropical diseases...we must talk more! I wanted to use Belhaasia as the disease but as I have no idea how you spell it and net didn't help a lot opted for the first one that had that 'not a clue' factor.
The department store story is classic. What a great place to live, it must have been an amazing (and frustrating!) experience.
You are moving? How exciting. Have to dash now but will catch up with the hootoo home later and read in depth...await more praise.
