My two best friends in Junior High and I would play that, but since we were all thin somewhat feminine girls, we wouldn't really jump, just kind of...sat, I guess. So you couldn't really call it floor jumping, dogpiling is a good name though. The other two had older brothers, so they knew how it went, and taught me. To make it more exciting we would go to our friend's two story house and do it on a table on the top floor. It felt higher.
I liked the article. I never knew someone could go into such detail about things like this. And it's stuff everyone has seen or done, or at least heard of, which makes it fun to read about.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I think this might be my best shot yet at getting something accepted, although I can't even get my stuff rejected because the big shots won't read any of it. Oh well. It's my daily complaint.
My girlfriend visited me at college for one weekend, and I played the unwilling victim in several games of Floor Jumping. My roommates didn't even wait for me to lay down - they just grabbed me and piled on. Amazing that she is still with me!

i think you aught to mention that the victim often is very pissed and want to get revenge. other then that i must say it is a great piece.

I was thinking of changing the end a bit, so I might try and work that in somehow. I don't feel very creative right now, however. I have another user page that I started a while back, and I think I'll go kill it now - I don't think I'll ever actually get around to writing it.

Ok, I revised the end a bit, so tell me if you think it is an improvement. By the way Kat, I thought your phone book page was really funny.

i do like the new ending, esp. the bit about throwing a couch out. As for my entry on telephone books, can you think of any other uses or bits i could put in, cause it needs something, i don't know what?? Oh have a fish on me

Thanks for the fish, now I know what to have for lunch.
Also thanks for the FJ feedback - I threw caution to the wind and submitted the darn thing. Now I only have to wait two or three months!
I posted some other telephone book uses on your page - hope they are useful.

Well have you heard of Zachsmind's latest development to try and get the editors to go faster/give them some help...
it's all here... http://www.h2g2.com/A107407
Everyone's getting frustrated...I think a good game of floor jumping will take their minds off of it, however, at least for a while.

I have read Zachmind's critique page and think it is very well thought out, but I don't know how much I could be involved. I like reading other people's stuff, especially those who I have conversed with previously, but I don't know how I'd find the time to do all that reading and discussing. I guess cutting down on the forum chat would help......
I spend too much time on H2G2 as it is.
I read one of the newest accepted entries and saw that it took 9 weeks to be accepted! I doubt the powers that be expected so many people to join up and write stuff. I keep thinking they should limit how often any one person can submit, but this idea has fallen on deaf ears. Maybe that isn't a problem.
I don't know. I'll just go jump off a couch instead.

Floor Jumping was rejected today. I'm very disappointed, especially considering a similar article I wrote (Geeker Ball) was accepted. Want to share my pain? See my journal entry:

Hey Fen and Kat, I've revised Floor Jumping and resubmitted it. Mind telling me if it is improved?
