I cried. I still cry, and it's been nearly ten tears. For a man, that's probably unusual.
Loss is harder to bear than anything I know of, and I've borne a lot.
Halfway down the stairs......

I am so sorry and, yes it is hard, and lonely, and alone, but I have thirty years of wonderful memories and he is free so always with me. There is a book by Paul somebody or other...American I think....called 'In my soul I am free'. He always wanted a copy but we could never track it down. I have a quest now and a huge pile of books 'You'll really like this one' to wade through. I am now truly a hitch hiker. He will hold my hand and take care of me on my journey...he always did and bad habits are hard to break. Try and enjoy your journey. Cry together and laugh together...she wouldn't want you to be sad.

Thanks for the words.
Halfway down? A.A. Milne said many a wise thing, largely via his friends Pooh and Eeyore, of course. This one was a poem read by Christopher Robin.

I was going to visit you then I saw your news a while back, about the death of your husband. I had been enjoying your work in the postand wanted to tell you so.

Just a cause it's 3 days later
I see you were talking about the old stars somewhere I ran across. I love the old movies. The costumes and sets. The ballrooms and big band music.
Some Like it Hot" is really wonderful. The Jimmy Stewart one with the Harvey!

Office looks delightful! many thanks. Strawbeeryscream worked a treat and the strawberries and cream were the perfect compilment/complement?!
Have cleared the desk for this week and made a couple of decisions. Where I should keep the cat food in future seemed most important, ditto the tea towels. However amidst this confusion of mental acrobatics decided that education was a good starting point and am enrolling at Uni for september. keeping the day job but filling the winter nights. Probably too old to be returning to the classroom and I shall have to give up smoking...students so can't afford to smoke, however it has to beat the interminable social whirl that beckons with almost as much allure as a visit to the dentist.
take care
