Does this account for different coloured flowers of the same species, and how sometimes a plant can have two different colours (on the same plant)

Ah yes...smiley - blush I've only read over it once so there's bound to be a few errors still...smiley - erm

I'm trying to find some basic genetic guide entries I can link to in order to help explain things. Found one on Gregor Mendal, but that's about it. smiley - sadface

It acounts for some of the colour variation, but there are other mutations that occur in plants as well. Plants are far more evolved in terms of their genetics that animals, and consequently are a lot more complex... If you take the seed of a plant mutated by a transposon it wouldd most likely not share the mutation. Consquently most plants grown for qualities such as variagated leaves and unusual flower colour have to be clones from a parant plant.... now I'm rambling. smiley - laugh
