It's just that the crossbow costs more in wood than titanuim. I mean what sort of wood is it, I hardly think it's gonna be pine or mahogany for that price!!!

Wood makes less noise and is thus more useful, ergo the higher cost. It's also much easier to dispose of.

True, therefore people who use wood will have greater demand, hence the mark-up. You must undertsand that Black Market prices are evaluated differently to those of the galaxy at large.
