A Conversation for The Official h2g2 'Back to Basics' Summer Party

Firstly, how best might I reach the Hyde Park bandstand in question via public transport? I will get into London at Liverpool St. station, although I could alternatively stop at Stratford if Tube access is easier from there. I am unfamiliar with the London Underground, although I have used it a few times.
Secondly, how easy will it be to recognise h2g2ers when I/we get there? Are there likely to be people hanging around the bandstand completely unconnected to h2g2? Will there be any kind of official greeter with an h2g2 t-shirt or somesuch?
Thirdly, are there any arrangements for food? Where/when are we likely to be eating?
Sorry to be so paranoid, but I've seen events like this go a bit off the rails because people weren't sure what the plans were in advance.

Public transport- pass, I always walk.
Will you be able to recognise people- yes- large group of people, many wearing h2g2 t-shirts/DNA related T-shirts. A vaguely insane air will be present, and two or three people circling the edges feveriously trying to herd- that's the eds
Food- Nope, this is a back to basics jobby- sort your own. There's a nice burger bar near the pub, I can tell you that. I usually grab something en route to the pub from the park.

It's amazing that you can recognise the h2g2 members in a crowded place. They often wear more than the usual amount of black, I remember vividly from my first meet. They'll probably clump together and be laughing a lot.

My first Meet was in a crowded pub, with several large groups of laughing people. It took me a good few minutes to find the right crew.

I can beat that. I was meeting some fellow hootooers in the pub and was told to meet Wumbeevil, who was bald. Unfortunately, there were several bald men in the pub so I had to go through the embarassment of asking several of them 'are you wumbie?' before finding the right man...

Hi there!
Everything you need to know about travelling across London by whatever means can be found on the "Transport for London" website

I prefer a myself. http://www.transportforlondon.gov.uk/buses/
If you don't come to London often you'll get to see some of it going past and you can't do that on the tube!

This is a helpful page too:
A map and some information about getting to the Park.

I think from Liverpool Street you should be able to get the no 8 to Hyde Park corner.
