To all whom may concern,

this work is - from my point of view - pretty ready to be published. Anyway, being a german being and trying to learn and write english, I certainly did not finish this peace of work without including some errors. Among them I suspect a breach in the following parts (you mentioned in your guides to not to do):

- Use British-English spelling rather than American-English (uhoh, not sure about that)
- Try to use good spelling and grammar (I'm sure there are errors I can't spell)
- Not sure about quote marks (because I think I used the german style... ah...)

If, in any case, you feel the article may suffice your judgement, please feel free to publish it.

Best regards, George

Hi Jerkwood smiley - ok You've made a good start here, well done smiley - smiley

I can see you've put a lot of thought into this, but I confess that by the end of the entry, I still don't really know what web 2.0 actually is! I have never heard of it before, do you think you could try to put something into the What Is web 2.0 section that is a bit more descriptive, rather than saying it is hard to define? Is the intention that people will use browsers like hey do at the moment, but rather than using http://www.site.address.etc to access the information they will use something else?

There are some grammar problems, but we can sort them out later when we have got the content of the entry sorted smiley - ok

I did notice that you make some first person references in the entry (you use 'I doubt' for example) which will have to be removed if the entry is to comply with the Writing-Guidelines.

You've made a good start here, but it needs a little more explanation so that the non-smiley - geeks among us can understand what the point of Web 2.0 is smiley - ok

Hello Kelli,

thanks for your good start telling me I got a good start. Well, there's nothing that might impress a man more than impressing a man, eh? :- )

So that's for the good news. The bad one is that I cannot really fulfill your wishes to put "something into the 'What Is Web 2.0' ". At the moment it's too buzz-ey to do that, as I think. Well I tried to fill the gap but I don't know if that's enough for you. You (as you said) not knowing anything about Web 2.0 or, how did you state it, "... the intention that people will use browsers like they do at the moment, but rather ..." ... argh, uhm, I thought about stealing this one ;- )

So, message understood. Tried my best. In case the content doesn't fit your judgement please let me know, I'll try to fit it in. I understand that you do not understand anything about Web 2.0 (or was it that I do not understand anything about Web 2.0 and you understand? Seems a little bit... whoohoo... , the world is spinning...)

Well yet I go for all the fish: Please do me a favour. I am here to improve my english. Any kind of grammar or language error detected by you and reported to me will be highly appreciated. In case you got time to tell me, please do me that favour to inform me about.

Thanks for your fast review,

greetings, jerkwood.

Hello Jerkwood, I'm sorry to say, but I still have no idea what this is all about, have read it forth and back and back and forth- how do you access it, and what is it ? Can't judge on the grammar etc, not being a native speaker of English myself .smiley - smiley

Hello B'Elana,

no need to be sorry, the definition of Web 2.0 is not that easy. At least for me. I Tried to clarify it through searching and inserting a definition found in Google, hope this will help the people understand what the fuss is all about.

There are, as I think, two major problems with the term "Web 2.0": The first is, it is a hype right now (and hype-thingies are often not that well defined) and the second is that everybody sees slightly different things in it: Ask a technician and he will talk to you about AJAX and funny interactive web services. Ask a manager and he will talk about the people peering together creating communities by using that technology. I tried to split it of into these two parst.

But nevertheless you are right. I hope the new version is explaining a little bit more what Web 2.0 ewxactly is.

Hello Jerkwood, i have followed some of the links, and read what 'Heyse online' wrote about it, and I think I have now at least got the idea what it is about, but I guess it will need a good rewording to make others understand, and more explanations. Why don't you put it into the <./>writing-workshop</.> and see what help you can get from there ? Just a thought smiley - smiley

Hello B'Elana,

thanks again for your ongoing interest in this topic, and, last not least, for your participation to my article. Seriously, after your post (and your private investigations, better, your statement that only after your private investigations you got the idea of Web 2.0) I am not that sure as I was before that the article is ready-to-use for everyone.

Anyway, this article was not intended to be "yet another describe/praise the Web 2.0 - technology" article as often seen nowadays in the web. So it tries to describe the fundamentals to a certain point but wants to get the reader once more to ponder about the subject. I do not claim to achieve this. But I hope to : ) .

In case you (or anyone else) have the opinion to put it into the writing shop (I understand that the community can do this, right?) please feel free to put it there - no offense taken! (Au contraire, ma chere) If you read this (yes, you! : ) and you think like B'Elana, let me know, I'll put it into the writing shop myself. Otherwise, I'd rather like to wait for more input to improve the article.

Again thank you, I really appreciate that you follow my work!

Greetings, Jerkwood

P.S.: And yes, I am also here to learn my part to speak english. Every hint on errors is _highly_ appreciated!

Hi Jerkwood,

I have been sitting here in the background wondering whether to pop in - and now you have given me a reason to! smiley - biggrin

I think this would be a good addition to the Guide. I have searched and not found anything on Web 2.0 here. I have to agree with B'Elena, though. It does need some work and you'd better get this into the EG Writing Workshop. You'll get help with the structure and content, the language and the grammar there. This place (PeerReview) is for 'almost Guide-ready' entries.

Do you know how to move the entry, or will you need a hand?

smiley - ok

Hi Jerkwood, good to see you back!

To take your entry out of Peer Review, go to the PR page till you find your entry. At the end of your listing, you should see a little 'x' If you click on that, it takes your entry out of PR and back onto your Personal Space.

Then you go to the entry again and press edit entry, then 'submit for review' and pick out the forum you want from the scrolly downy thingy...

I'll meet you there.

smiley - ok

Thanks for the tip (remove it from "a" to list it in "b" - why oh why do I seldom think of the simple ones?) - and done.

Have fun (and "blow me in little bits" over there : ), Jerkwood
