Hows the AB heat thus far? lol..
I have to give everyone credit that lives there. I tried living there, the heat killed me there was no way I could live there. Being an asthmatic as well breathing was impossible the dry heat is cruel.
How do you deal with it?

It's funny how everybody outside thinks Canada is cold. I've lived in Ottawa (hot), Sudbury (hot), Windsor (stupidly hot), and Edmonton (hottest of all). I've been very much colder in Mexico and the Southern U. S., for goodness sake!

I'm a five hour drive from a desert, for instance. The weather extremes in this country are brutal. Spend an August day in Lytton, BC and tell me that it is frigid here, or better yet, a winter in Victoria where they seldom sell snow tires. I used to race sailboats in my youth and the stories we got away with when sailing in Seattle and Portland would have you laughing on the floor. Igloos and mucklucks, sled dogs and spit freezing before it hit the ground. And that is a short distance to the south!

It is insane how much the weather in certain parts of Canada does a complete 180 between winter and summer. Here in Northwestern Ont., It's so cold in the winter you put on five layers, but everyone owns central air for the summer! I remember living on the Coast of BC, i heard a joke that they call snow in Vacouver Albino Grass cause it's so rare to see it, it seems.

You people should spend a year in Manitoba. Its been hot enough to fry eggs at City Hall (I don't know why, this is Winnipeg, it doesn't need a reason to be odd), and so cold schools and businesses are closed. I think my ancestors must have come here in May or September - no snow, not too hot, and before - or after - the bugs and mosquitos are bad.
But winter's a dry cold!

That's one thing you have to appreciate in Canada. The weather kills the mosquitoes for half the year!
Not everyone expects Canada to be freezing, though. I once had a heck of a time in Spain convincing a guy that it was snowing when I left the country.

You know, when I think about uncomfortable weather here in Alberta, I think of heat not cold. Even today (it's cooled off to 20 degrees for the evening) was just starting to be uncomfortable. I'm so relieved that my place is sheltered by so may trees so that I can find a sort of deep forest feeling in the summer time.
