My house is in an alcove on a hill and as a result, the (large) lawns were flat to a point, at which they raised up like the sides of a basin. Many ride-on mowers are completely unsuitable (actually dangerous) for such slopes and those grass collecting mowers are just too bulky and heavy. I'm a fit guy and after only 10% coverage I'd be knackered . For such a landscape, a lightweight hover mower (one single arm, on a disc shaped base) is essential. The different designs really are individually suited to different landscapes. As for my lawn nowadays....it went. I got so sick of it I created a multi-level rock garden.
