Okay, I'm not as restricted as I thought I might be and can talk if anyone wants to. I really would appreciate some disscussion and wouldn't even be offended if JtP turned up smiley - winkeye

I'm glad you brought this up, it got lost in my conversations. It's an interesting read and I know I feel the same way you do about a few things, and some things happened the same way to me, for instance I have begun to study religion. It's fascinating! H2g2 seemed a logical step from that smiley - winkeye

Actually, h2g2 has formed some of my most core ideas of religion. There are a lot of terrific articles out there... On being an Atheist, What is God? And a title that escapes me but has to do with the all loving, all seeing, all powerful ideas of God. Anyone who is out there should read those.

Thanks, Jodan. A lot of the thought processes behind this article were stimulated by discussions here in h2g2.

I don't think I have read all of these, can you post links?

Sure, and Blatherskite's one is good as well...

A378939- On being an Atheist

A472033- What is God?

A293267- Evil and the Christian God

A213247 -The failure of Christianity to Stand up to Reason

Most of it's about Christianity, but there's a good deal about Islam, Judaism, Wiccanism, Veganism smiley - winkeye on this site as well

Thanks Jodan. I'd read the last one before, both in the FFFF library and more recently in AWW (where I commented on it), but not the other three.

The first two articles are both entertaining and extremely informative. I must confess that I really do need to do some deeper research on other religious faiths to get a clearer idea of how I feel fits in with non-christian viewpoints. There are some strong leads in there that reassure me.

Perhaps more interesting than A293267, are the threads hanging off it! The article itself falls over within the first two lines (and that's being generous).

Ah, yes I seem to recall that AWW thread now. smiley - blush

I still look at a section in 'On being an Atheist' to settle me down when I'm feeling smiley - silly. It's a bit depressing

Most of the Edited religious articles at C30 aren't about christianity. Not much about the philosophical side though either. smiley - erm

Have you read any of Muzakkboy's work on Islam? Excuse me if I forgot you from any on his PR threads smiley - biggrin

Yeah, I came across Adib on a creationist thread somewhere, so had a look through some of his work. I must confess I was responsible for getting Adib on pre-mod, one plagarised post oo far I'm afraid.

Adib's work is mostly ripped off from some dubious geezer called Adnan Oktar (aka Harun Yahya etc.) who appears to be pretty much the same as any other fundamentalist, the only difference being that his standard work is the Quran, rather than the Bible.

I ought to mosey on over and have a look at some of his work again. Thanks for reminding me.

smiley - cheers
