Nobody else is talking here, so we might as well carry on.

Sorry, I missed your reply!
I came back to wave this under the noses of the Scouts, and found that you'd answered anyway. My pumpkin seeds are showing.

Well I've been on holiday for a week so haven't posted here for a bit. To answer Mina's question - No, I don't have a pond, just lots of frogs and dragonflies attracted by next door's pond. I had vague memories of hearing somebody on TV talking about wintertime ponds and floating something in them to prevent icing over. I couldn't remember if it was supposed to be a Necessity, a Good Thing or a Myth and wondered if you could clear up my confusion. I'll take what you said as a vote for Good Thing
On the subject of seeds - I came back from holiday to find the tomato and chilli seedlings had come up good and strong while I was away Not so my sweet peas though only 4 germinated out of about 25 seeds but they were left over from last year's packet. We've definitely decided to have a go at sweetcorn this year - it tastes so wonderful grilled fresh in its leaves on the barbie, sweeter and juicier than you could imagine.

My sweetpeas are doing well, and I jsut heard a tip to add a seed to the hole when you plant them (if you have any left), to extend the growing season. Mine all come from a couple of free packets that I got last year, and collected the seeds from to grow some more this year. I don't really like annuals (too much work!), but because I can sow them in autumn they don't cause me too much fuss.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
