Benefits of Being an h2g2 Scout
We do hope that you enjoy being a volunteer and that you get satisfaction from helping us. Remember that you should be doing the work because you want to, but if you decide that it isn't really for you, just let us know. If you change your mind, need to take a break, or would prefer to join one of our other volunteer schemes instead please get in touch.
There are plenty of benefits of being a Scout. Here are the main ones:
You get direct access to the Senior Volunteers, with whom you can discuss editorial matters, in confidence.
You get access to the Scouts' forum in Trello and the Recommendations page.
You get a shiny Scout badge on your Personal Space and have the right to add <./>Scout</.> (which appears as Scout) after your name when posting1.
You get a considerable amount of kudos within the h2g2 Community.

For more details, see What do the Scouts do?
We need the Scouts to ensure that the Edited Guide contains the best quality Entries possible, which is vital if we are to build the best unconventional Guide this side of Ursa Minor. The site couldn't exist in its current form without them: the Scouts play the vital role of selecting suitable entries from Peer Review, thus freeing up the Sub-editors to work on polishing these soon-to-be Edited Entries.
The Scouts' Trello Forum
The Trello: Scouts and Sub-editors Board, is a place where Scouts can raise discussions with other Scouts, the Sub-editors and Guide Editors. It provides a confidential forum where you can ask questions and share thoughts, away from the public forums and peer Review threads.
Our Trello board is designed to keep track of individual Entries as they work through the editorial processes, from Peer Review and beyond.
You'll also have access to a general forum for all Official Volunteers for cross-site discussion. This is the place where the Senior Volunteers will share information with all teams.
