The Scouts are entrusted with the task of finding and recommending the best entries within H2G2, those Entries that are truly well written and informative.
The main job of the Scouts is to run the Peer Review page, where the Community - including the Scouts - can discuss the merits of entries that are put up for review. Each Scout gets a monthly quota of entries they can recommend from Peer Review to send to the Sub-editors for editing, so they're effectively reponsible for deciding what goes into the Approved part of the site.
