One of my own favourite books, thank you! The reason the producer gave for omitting Grace from the TV dramatisation was a practical one - it would have required three different (and highly talented) child actresses; and you only have to think of the subsequent dramatisation of Delderfield's "Diana" to realise the clunking effect this would have had. As I saw the TV version of TSTAMD before reading the book, I've always assumed that my mental images of the written characters were coloured by what I had seen, so your comments on this aspect were particularly reassuring. I've read the book many times, usually in a single sitting to 3 am.

Well, the BBC version of To Serve Them All My Days is finally out on both sides of the Atlantic. The US version is just a boxed set version. The UK versions are split between a boxed set and a three part version with 2 discs in each. Whichever way you get it, just get it!!!
