Isn't true in Europe as for one reason or another the red/orange swirl is now a blue

It was changed due to fears of Copyright infringement, I believe.

I have to say I prefer the blue swirl. My American dreamcast controllers with the orange arn't as nice though it would have been better if sega had chnaged the orange light on the dreamcast to blue for the UK as well as the logo

Well, I think another company had already copyrighted the use of an orange swirl in their logo.
