A Conversation for 'Night of the Living Dead' - the Film

Not Romero

I quote this from the article:
'Romero also wrote and shot additional footage for a special anniversary edition of Night of the Living Dead. The new scenes were added to the start and the close of the film as well as etc..they served in the end to add very little to the actual impact of the film overall. Predictably the new edition was met with mixed reviews, but with disdain from purists.'

This is rather garbled, I'm afraid. It's a discussion of the 30th Anniversary edition of the movie. Romero was not involved. There has seen been released a 40th-anniversary edition, which is Romero-approved. The story of the much-derided 30th-anniversary edition is perhaps interesting, and John Russo wrote and shot these new scenes. The distributor has long ago given up on this failed edition, which I expect never sold out.
