really enjoyed this article.was surprised to learn there were no bat protection laws in scotland....maybe i should start a campaign...SAVE THE SCOTS BATS!!!!!

By the way, bats are protected in Scotland, but only from 'deliberate' harm. In England and Wales, harming them 'recklessly' is an offence as well. Just to clarify

So in Scotland, you could brick up your loft and say 'oh, I didn't realise there were bats in there' and that would be ok. Across the border, you'd get a £5000 fine or six months in jail - per bat - for the same thing!
