I've seen old pictures with the walkway from the station to the Midland Hotel. Nice to think that you could walk from the station to the rear entrance of the hotel and avoid the weather. That rear entrance is still in use. It's my favourite hotel in Manchester and a lovely old building. I imagine it was only used by 1st class passengers back then.
