Good article, a group of us tried to understand an annual student cricket tournament this summer in a suburb of Houston, TX. I have emailed this to them hoping to avoid the stumped, uhh, confused looks next summer. And I have suggested to the Astro pitchers that maybe bouncing the ball would be a good tactic - they do it now but only occasionally.
"It's theoretically possible to score six byes but about as likely as The Big Unit accidentally tossing a ball over the Green Giant at Fenway2."
Decades ago, the Yankees had a 100 mph fastball pitcher named Ryne Duren, whose eyesight was ... pathetic. He had a dozen pairs of glasses depending on the exact sun/cloud/lighting conditions. He once threw a warmup pitch up on the screen behind the plate, where foul balls land (and was accused of intimidation). Oh, he drank a lot, too.
