My mother always told me 'My mother always told me "Enough." so that's what I'm telling you'
Not that a child could grasp how much this amount could buy, but if you say '35,000' then they'll just ask why you aren't giving them more candy then. So the best route is probably an inexact 'Enough' or 'Plenty'.

I was always taught that it's rude to ask anyone about earnings directly. Besides, the answer I always got was 'enough to pay your school fees'.
