A Conversation for Adult Education

I'm about to do a course (i hope) in counselling. I'm 28, a single mum, and work during the days in a pub, the course is one day a week (luckily) but i am going to have to rely on help from friends, to look after my son, and for my son to understand that i have to study, but then, i think it will be very beneficial to him to see mum doing her homework, it will incourage his learning (again i'm hoping there) and that is the FIRST hurdles, next is money, mmmmmmm, luckily the government will pay 90% of my fees, this i think is going to be sorted out by the college, so my costs for the course will be £46, which is very good, then on top of that i have to buy my books, which is more cost.
I found the course by ringing, Learn Direct (always advertising on the telly) told them what i wanted to do, and they found the course and nearest colleges for me. But then the other nightmare i have is the evening course application forms are not ready until the end of May, and they are doing the interviews in June/July time, so not a lot of time to sort it all out.
Adult Education is a minefield of issues, but to be honest, im scared about having to go back into a college environment, but really looking forward to learning, and making my life progress! So good luck to everyone who is thinking of going back into adult education!!!

Don´t be afraid, you will probably have a great time! I am myself at the end of my 2½ years of being an adult student on full time and have enjoyed myself very much. I am 42 years old and it is approximatley 20 years ago since I was a student last time.
I find it vey different from being a young student, bringing life/work experience in to university makes studying something different from what I remember that it used to be.
I can understand if you feel scared, so did I in the beginning, this is my first experience of university and I had so much respect at first and I was afraid that everything would be too difficult for me.
As it turned out I have been doing fine, and it has really been a great period in my life
