Who was the biggest Jesse of them all?
I guess if there's one sporting achievement that ought to rate as the greatest of all time, then it's the afternoon in 1935 when Jesse Owens broke 6 world records in a space of 45 minutes. For an athlete to break one in a career is a fantastic achievement, but to be able to break that many in under an hour is beyond believe.
His long jump world record of that day stood for 25 years...

I think that Owens' achievements are made greater by the context in which he broke them. The 1936 Olympics were held in Germany, and served as a major piece of propaganda for the Nazi party. For a Black man to win so much was a great social achievement, in both America which was a racist country at the time, and Germany which was dominated by the ideas of Nazism and the Aryan master race.
