Trypanophobia- Fear of injections.

I have Trypanophobia (or Aichmophobia- Fear of needles or pointed objects), which as stated above is the fear of having injections. Its not the pain of it, its the idea of having something actually injected into me. I don't like it!

I'm the opposite, I love injections! I do think some of these phobias, like yours for instance, are quite sensible though. Injections mean putting your trust into someone hoping it is properly sterilised and without air bubbles. A lot to ask in our modern NHS!

I have Vaso-Vagal Trypanophobia. I dread hospitals, doctors & dentists. Infact I havn't been to the dentist for nearly 10 years. The thought of having to go to a hospital or a dentist brings me out in a cold sweat and I start to feel shakey and emotional. A visit to the doctors I can just about brave, but it still makes me feel sick and feel very stressed out. The sight of blood makes me light headed and can also result in me passing out! To have an injection or blood test would cause me to have a panic attack and I would also pass out for up to half an hour. It also affects me for the rest of the day after having an injection & blood test. I usualy have to go to bed and stay there until I can face standing up again, without my head spinning. I have no idea what started this phobia, as I used to love hospitals, dentists and doctors as a child. I even wanted to become a surgeon. lol I loved biology at school and would always be at the front when my teacher had to cut up animal organs!
