It's probably worth noting how tracks corrspond once you've turned the tape over.
Usually, track 1 on the 'normal' side will correspond to track 4 on the 'backwards' side, but some cheaper 4-track models (notably Yamaha and early Tascams) will use a double-buss system, meaning that track 1 will correspond to track 3. Check first!

Hi Master B,
Sounds like a good tip, but whereabouts in the entry should I put that info - and how should it be phrased?

I'd stick it in as point 1 on the list. Have some ML:

I'm not sure that it would suit point 1 - it might spoil the seamlessness of the instructions, which assume you're recording a whole tape. I also wonder whether it needs a bit more explanation?

I agree it's a bit intrusive as point one.
Why not put it as an NB, or something like that after the list, but before 'Other Uses'
More explanation in what way? You really don't want me to go into the technicalities of a double-buss system, do you?
Actually, I can answer that: No, you don't.

How does a double-buss system make track one correspond to track three? If we don't explain what it is, then it's going to make the entry more confusing, which is a shame as it's so clear as it stands. Perhaps we need a whole new entry on the subject!

Can we just paraphrase it then, so that we leave out the double-buss bit?

How's that?
