Christopher Hitchens made a case against her sainthood calling her, “a fanatic, a fundamentalist, and a fraud,” and argued that “even more will be poor and sick if her example is followed.” She was widely praised for helping the poor and dying, yet it can be argued her work did not help either group. She believed that suffering was a gift from God. She famously took money and gifts from the likes of the Duvalier family and Charles Keeting of the '80s S&L scandal, defending and praising these very bad people.
Hitchens' criticisms of Mother Teresa can be read here: http://slate.com/news-and-politics/2003/10/the-fanatic-fraudulent-mother-teresa.html
