The Idatarod is around 1200 miles and the shortest ever time was 9+ days. That's 133 miles per day. I suspect the dogs run more than 26.2 non-stop.
Yes - I'm a crazy marathon runner. Although I haven't run a full marathon for a couple of years.

Canids, Humans and Thylacines (the baddies seen in Jurassic Park I) are unusual in that they are cursorial hunters. It could be said that marathons are natural to the human species.
Most other predators and prey can only run for short distances, and rely on high alert sensing or sneaky pounces to avoid being eaten or to get lunch.
