Other LARP Systems

I know that at least here in the USA one of the most popular systems for LARP differs greatly from what you just described. First of all there are no weapons of any kind used in play (sorry you just have to use your imagination). This is mostly because the setting for the game it is used in (Vampire, Mage, Werewolf) is modern and the police tend to get nervous around even fake guns, it also tends to scare innocent bystanders less. There is also no touching of any kind allowed during the game for safety's sake. To deterine wheather or not you are successful in what you are attempting you throw rock, paper, sicissors with either a narrator or your opponent. Damage and death are determined by your health levels, and you represent different items that your charecter posesses with index cards carried around. A bit of realism is sacrificed, but the safety considerations are sometimes worth it (face it, blood tends to fly alot during these games). As in tabletop play you earn expierience points that can be used to buy different abilities, allowing your charecter to grow over time.
